I’ve seen this occur when there are spaces somewhere in the full path to the file.
You are able to confirm this by trying to access a document at a URL with no spaces – so something like http://mysharepoint/mysite/mydocs/document.docx
So instead of ‘Shared Documents’ you need to make sure all paths have no spaces.
We were finding that some clients didn’t interpret the spaces as %20 correctly – I’m not sure if I remember how we resolved but this may help you narrow down the problem.
If this is a particular machine issue(you may check on different machines), then please search for MS Office Hotfix for it, and if this is a file issue/or any particular file, you may try to rename the file without any special character. Â
