Hi all,
We’re moving to a new domain by the end of the year and I have a couple of 3 tier farms to migrate. Most posts talk about building new farms in the destination domain and then moving the databases and updating user accounts. I found the article (below) and was wondering if there’s a reason why I couldn’t use the same strategies for a moving a multi-server farm.
The process shown on that thread is for SharePoint 2007, although it might work (testing is the key here) the Microsoft best practice way is to build a new farm on the new domain and attach the SharePoint DBs from the old farm to the new. I’ve recently moved a SP13 farm over domains and the majority of the work was completed using PowerShell and wasn’t as painful as you might expect. If you’d like some examples of the PS let me know.
Hi Rob,
I know this post is old but we are in the process of domain migration and We are moving our SharePoint and Project Servers in to the new domain. Did you get any advice from Microsoft or can you send the step-by step methods you have used when you migrate your environments if possible with the PS scripts? Did you get a chance to the steps recommended by this post(https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/sushrao/2011/12/02/sharepoint-migrating-sharepoint-server-from-one-domain-to-another/)
Thanks
Tommy
