Hi Guys,
I have a question to you. Do you think that as SharePoint developer I should learn MVC? I know that for example SharePoint apps can be created with MVC, but also I can use ASP.NET. SharePoint stack has been build with ASP.NET. Do you think that Microsoft make a move to MVC? Or It’s a waste of time and I should stay with ASP.NET?
Thanks
Tomasz
Does that mean you see more active MVC projects in SharePoint 2013?
thanks,
Stephan
Not a developer either but I agree with what’s been said here. Most, if not all of our new applications in SharePoint are using the MVC approach. The good thing about MVC is that you will be able to take what you’ve learned and use it outside of SharePoint.
Thanks guys. It seems that I have no choice and I have to start learning MVC…
I agree with Nico. Traditional Full Farm solutions (with the ASP.Net control life-cycle) are dieing. Any effort you put into learning MVC now will not be wasted.
Hi Tomasz,
First of all: I’m not a developer, so don’t take my word for it. In my opinion MVC is already happening when it comes to developing apps for SharePoint with the new app-model.
I have seen several projects where they were creating provider-hosted apps using MVC.
Hope it helps.
