I want to build a solid workstation/desktop to use as a virtualization platform, which I will use to set up a virtualized SharePoint 2010/2013 environment and will use personally (watching movie, playing games, coding, etc.). I hope I could run at least 8+ VMs on this system. My budget is AU$2,500-3,000.
OS: Windows 8 ent/ Windows 8.1 ent
CPU: Choosing between i7 3930k/i7 3770
Mobo: P9X79 WS/Rampage IV Extreme/Z9PE-D8
DRAM: 32GB size – Gskill ripjaw
Storage: 2x 250 SSD
GPU: No Idea
Power supply: No Idea
Cooling: No Idea
ODD: No Idea
Casing: No Idea

I’m not sure of the level of gaming. I stopped playing 2 years ago and would like to play again for relaxation like (assasin’s creed, Starcraft, Diablo. etc. ). My co-worker advice me to buy gskill-ripjaw because of the hyperx and it’s a good brand for RAM. However, I’m considering to buy a cheaper RAM. I’m not sure if the brand of RAM would affect the task that I would like to do with this machine(running VM, Playing games.) running VM’s is most important for this setup.
