I want to build a solid workstation/desktop to use as a virtualization platform, which I will use to set up a virtualized SharePoint 2010/2013 environment and will use personally (watching movie, playing games, coding, etc.). I hope I could run at least 8+ VMs on this system. My budget is AU$2,500-3,000.

Why not go for 64 GB of Ram? I got the i7-3820 + Px79 Pro  + 64GB of Ram and it’s amazing! Go for LGA2011 for sure so you can get the 64GB of ram.
Casing, I love my HAF series. the HAF912 is a bit tight, but the HAF932 would be amazing.Â
