It seems that Office 2016 for Mac (unlike Office 2011) – doesn’t allow you to open office documents on SharePoint 2010 from Safari/Firefox browsers.
It seems that Office 2011 Mac includes the necessary Mac browser plugins – and if you have both 2011 and 2016 installed then it works.
That seems to be very short sighted of Microsoft, and at the moment our only solution appears to be to install both versions of Office on every Mac until it gets sorted out.
Does anyone have any more insight into this issue or fixes?
