We have a farm that currently allows both intranet and extranet access, TMG handles the authentication from the extranet for SharePoint. We have deployed an OWA farm internally only at first but when accessing a SharePoint site from the extranet Office docs could not be opened in OWA. We created external access for the OWA farm and now when an external user tries to open an Office doc via SharePoint they get prompted for credentials (only happens once if they check the save credentials box and don’t clear their cache). This is not ideal.
Has anyone set this up for both intranet and extranet access? How do you handle the authentication so that once the user logs in to the extranet for SharePoint they do not get prompted again for OWA?
Check whether both internal and external bindings are set
what form of authentication are you using for your Intranet and your extranet?
OWA??? Office Web Application Server.. errr … thats a WAC
.
Im a fly on the wall here as we have HUGE TMG/UAG/Intranet/extranet fires!
