We are looking at implementing Blob storage on out SharePoint 2010 Enterpise Farm. From the research I’ve done I’ve concluded that the FILESTREAM solution isn’t production ready. (Is this fair?)
I’ve looked at a number of the third party suppliers and wondered what the communities experience are with this and why perhaps one solution is better than another
I’d also be interested to know if you can point me at any real world case studies?
backups fine using OOB filestream…snapshots are a no no though
How did you find FILESTREAM with regards the backup/restore story?
we’ve implemented it a few times in 2010 but not 2013.
We used it for large drawings > 1gb.
The limit on the OOB setup was that it had to use direct storage to SQL which was a bit limiting.
It’s also supported in sp backup which was nice!

It is “production ready”, but really shouldn’t be used in large, complex farms. Â It is really targeted for Foundation farms using SQL Express with data >4GB or >10GB, depending on the version of Express.
