Hi All.
I came from a development background and have been working with SharePoint for 3 years. I’m current on SharePoint Server 2013 enterprise. At the moment I administer our server farm but I also create apps using SharePoint Designer and the out-of-the-box tools. To be honest, I enjoy both (sometimes). However, there are increasing ready made apps from the SharePoint App store.
My employer will send me on a course. What do you guys think? I’m not sure which route to take – developer or architect? Which route has the better career path in terms of earning potential?
Thanks, Larry
A full architect can speak to all aspects of SP including development and infrastructure. If you are planning to focus more on the cloud and O365 the more intense infrastructure courses may not be the best path and development would be a good starting point. Also the shift in the certification path for the SharePoint 2013 MCSE shows the push for O365. I have taken courses through Critical Path and Global Knowledge to attain SharePoint certifications and had good results with both.
