Hello friends,
What would be the correct way to install SP2 for SharePoint 2010 Server. So far, I’ve come up with the following:
1. Install SP2 for SharePoint Server 2010: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39672
2. Install SP2 for language packs that you might have for SharePoint 2010: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2687450
3. Install SP2 for Office Web Apps/Project Server/Search Server etc.
My main question, is it still mandatory to install SP2 for Foundation first and then install SP2 for SharePoint Server?
I know they changed the bits for Cumulative Updates, but I can’t find information about this on Service Pack 2.

We must install SharePoint Foundation first then SharePoint Server unless you are already sure all binaries get included in server package. In my opinion, there is something in foundation that isn’t included in server version. Take a look at approval workflow template for example, the type “Microsoft.Office.Workflow.Actions.ApprovalTaskProcess” could not be resolved.
