Hello friends,
What would be the correct way to install SP2 for SharePoint 2010 Server. So far, I’ve come up with the following:
1. Install SP2 for SharePoint Server 2010: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39672
2. Install SP2 for language packs that you might have for SharePoint 2010: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2687450
3. Install SP2 for Office Web Apps/Project Server/Search Server etc.
My main question, is it still mandatory to install SP2 for Foundation first and then install SP2 for SharePoint Server?
I know they changed the bits for Cumulative Updates, but I can’t find information about this on Service Pack 2.
Share the knowledge!Â
Hello Nico,
As per my knowledge, in sharepoint 2010/2013 you NEVER have to install foundation > server. the Server language pack also includes the foundation. Â Â
I know in 2007 you had to update both.. but not in 2010/2013 anymore. I am 99.9% sure of that! Â So the correct order would be :
1. SP2 for Server
2. SP2 for LP
3. SP2 for Project/FAST/OWA.
4. PSConfig
Yep, came to the same conclusion. Was just wondering if the foundation bits have to be installed as well.
To make sure, I am just going to install the Foundation bits first and then the server bits, that way I won’t forget anything 🙂
Thanks
Personally it is a minefield, my approach is to test, test and then deployÂ
