I want to start my career in SharePoint. Can someone please suggest where to start from.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi Evan,
This kind of depends on where you want to focus? Are you looking at more of a ITPro side that deals mainly with the configuration, maintenance and non-code solutions (with the exception of PowerShell scripts) or are you looking at more of a developer side where you want to create custom apps.
Here’s the thing. Whether you want to be a Dev or an ITPro you first have to have a good understanding of what SharePoint is. I would start with some PluralSight courses or Lynda (I believe Lynda has SP courses). I suggest these as they are relatively low cost compared to taking a full on course. Find out if you like the environment. Follow some MVPs like Vlad Catrinescu, Todd Klindt, Marc Anderson, Benjamin Niaulin. They all have great blogs.
Once you have an understanding you will also have a better idea of where you want to go. Do you work now in the IT field? Does your company have any sort of connection to SharePoint. Can you work with them. The biggest thing with SharePoint (well with anything IMHO) is that you learn by doing. If you can, get yourself a VM and SharePoint install. Here is a page that talks about different ways to get an demo: http://sharepointballet.com/2013/06/12/10-ways-to-get-sharepoint-2013-demo-environment/
The next is to find a company that is looking for a junior SharePoint resource and start working. In my case, I had been a developer for quite some time and then was introduced to SharePoint at a client site. Haven’t looked back since. I love the product and the things we can do with it!
Hope this helps.
