Has anyone found any good sources yet? I don’t see much online and when I go to order books they are not published yet.

First, branding cannot be learned. It needs to be practiced. Branding is the technical act of applying a design that somebody else created on SharePoint.
The basic skills to do this are deep knowledge of CSS, HTML and JavaScript (JQuery). Once you have deep insight on this skills you can do whatever you want with SharePoint.
If you like to create your own designs and apply them to SharePoint than a basic understanding of User Experience (UX) and Design Principals are also useful.
I don’t know how skilled you are as a developer but there is a great online course that explain design for a developer that is called Hack Design.
The book Vlad mentioned is a great source how it can be done in SharePoint. To go beyond you definitely need to develop your own skills.
