In SharePoint 2013, we’ve noticed a glitch with IE 11 (running 32bit version) when selecting a large number of users from a group and choosing the Action – E-mail Users. The browser begins spinning and does not complete.
If only a few are chosen, this works as expected and an email page comes up with all of the selected users.
This same functionality works in both FireFox 36.0.4 and Chrome Version 41.0.2272.118 m.
Our client is reluctant to adopt SharePoint based on this.
Any suggestions of where to look beyond Microsoft?
It may be other versions of IE as well–haven’t tested.
Thanks I never tried this on 2007 but you may be right.
I remember this since SharePoint 2007 – it seems to not have changed in the meantime. I’m happy to be corrected on this, but I think it’s because the email is created by URL action. If the URL is too long, it just doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure this will be the same across all browsers…sorry, no fix that I know of.
The SharePoint SiteCollection has a couple of thousands.
We don’t control which browser the user uses. IE is not high on my list either.
thanks,
Stephan
How many users are you talking about? >50? IE isn’t a great browser, and the JS performance in Chrome/FF is much better.
