Could you tell which SP Microsoft Certifications you found useful to have? How was your story with getting the certificates? What could be a good choice to start with while being a beginner in Sharepoint? Do you think that it can make sense to do certificate for SP 2010 or rather focus on 2013 as most of the companies will move there at some point (if not yet)?

Aside from Vlad’s brilliant article there is a new certification for the basics of SharePoint coming out around June 28th, 2014 (#77-419) from Microsoft that would be easier to take than the others.
Also, you might check into the MTA types of certifications although I don’t believe are any specifically for SharePoint, they are just very basic and a nice start.
