SPD 2007 Send Email Workflow Sporadically Working or Gives an Error: The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly.

Problem Detail:
I have created a very simple workflow on SPD 2007 on new item added to a list, as response I will get a mail as I define my email id in the workflow. Sometimes, it works and sometimes shows error(The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly).
As after a lot of googling, I found Antivirus, System Account related issue but none of them are matched to my condition.
Please help.

First of all, thanks for your reply… but in my case workflow works for let say for item ID 3 and 6 but not for 4 and 5, if antivirus is the main cause then it should also not work for the other items’ id too.

I suppose you configured your outgoing email to use your Exchange server? Please check this article; I had to configure a receive connector in my Exchange server for SharePoint outgoing email to work correctly.
