Hi Guys,

Please excuse my ignorance as I only have just entered the world of Sharepoint.

We are in the process of creating an IA and taxonomy for a departmental migration to Sharepoint. At this stage primarily for the use of remote collaboration and as a storage facility.

2 questions which are unanswered so far:

1. If we were to migrate out existing data via its original (deep) folder structure is there any way to circumvent the maximum allowable character limititation issue?

2. If we were to re-create the entire folder structure with column/meta data instead of folders is there any way for the user to easily find this information when offline as their original folder structure will now have been replaced with Meta data navigation.  Travelling sales person trying to find his/her documents how does it work now that all their original folder structure has been replaced with an online meta data structure? Is there any way to work offline effectively?

Lastly, would anyone happpen to have experience with deep folder structure migration to Sharpoint Meta data and who could possibly provide some examples of how they successfully set up their taxonomy.
