I’m currently looking into the blogging world, once upon a time I started with it but didn’t finished succesfully… in other words, I gave up 🙂 Didn’t have the time to blog about interesting things and such…
Now I want to give it a second try, but don’t want to pay immediately for a nice domain name so looking into a nice free solution.
Which blog-provider would you recommend? and why? Does it have nice code syntax features?
Just shoot and give me pro’s and con’s about your blog-provider 🙂
Next up… choosing a good SharePoint blog name 🙂 But that’s totally for me to find out I guess 🙂

I also followed the same path that Vlad did (just before him :)). I started on Blogger w/ custom URL (since that was free there, and Blogger has no ads). It was too basic for my liking, and editing posts with specific styles from Windows Live Writer was painful.
So I set up a WordPress blog (self-hosted and using a theme @ http://sharepoint.nauplius.net) instead. I control the VM (Azure), but there are some other great options out there.
The sharepoint-community.net site is a great idea like vlad mentioned. That being said…
I’ve been looking to add a ‘text’ blog to my site, simplifiedsharepoint.com (I have a video blog already).  If you’d like to write for it, then you can monetize the blog pages with your own adsense code and ads, and upload your content, I’d even pay for a license on office 365 for you.Â

WordPress: 100% Free with .wordpress.com at the end, but you might have some ads. Good SEO, lots of plugins, a lot more advanced.  Easy to buy or get a free theme and look better. (Ex: my blog: www.absolute-sharepoint.com )
Blogger: 100% free with .blogspot.com at the end. No Ads. Â Very basic (that’s where I started). You can do very cool things, but you need some HTML/JS skills to make it pretty. (ex:Â http://www.sharepointwendy.com/)Â
SharePoint Community(This site): 100% free, you get an audience of over 5000 members and we have over 80K PageViews per month. Won’t have to worry about SEO.. google loves us (1.5-2K google hits per day) and people will like and comment. I think if you are starting and you aren’t gonna do at least 1 blog post per week to keep your “own” blog active, it’s a very good choice. Â Flaws that I admit and we hope to fix in february March with our new platform version are easiness to copy paste stuff and better syntax for code!
