I have a Folders with lots of sub folders and old documents (no metadata).
What the best practice or methodology moving documents that are over 4 years old?
There could be tens of thousands of them so Moving files manually is not an option 🙂
Select files or folders in a SharePoint library
On the command bar, select The More Options button on OneDrive.com. (More), and then select Move to or Copy to
On the Move or Copy panel, choose a destination in the current library, OneDrive, or another SharePoint site. (SharePoint Server 2019 currently only supports the current library.)
On the Move or Copy panel, select a folder in the current library and select Move here or Copy here. If you want to move or copy your files to a new folder, select New folder to add a new folder. Enter a name for the folder, select the checkmark, and then select Move here or Copy here.
Admin,
Some companies implement a policy that content with a certain age (e.g. 3 years) that has not been declared as a record is automatically deleted. This way an unlimited data growth is avoided.
So the key question is: what do you want to do with the old files? move them to a separate library in the same site or delete them or ..
Is this a one-off action or do you expect to perform the same action at regular intervals?
