Hi everyone, hope you can kindly help me !..
Taking advantage of the free month trial someone suggested that a good way to get a real Sharepoint 2013 environment up & running for the purposed of learning in depth would be MICROSOFT AZURE
So I’m following these very long instructions :
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/dn275959.aspx
However it really does seem VERY longwinded – wondered if anyone knows any shortcuts ?!
Any advice gratefully received. All the work I’m setting up is NOT going to be used by a company, it is just for my own learning..
Thank you !

What do you want to learn? How to work with SharePoint: create sites, lists and libraries, views, content types etc.. (in that case, I would recommend to request a office365 site (trial, free for a month). If this is all piece of cake, then I can imagine you want to learn how to configure a SharePoint farm. The SharePoint 2013 image in Azure is meant to be to set up you’re own SharePoint farm in the cloud (IAAS). This means that you will need to install all requirements first (that is ActiveDirectory and SQL). And yes, that is a little more work to get you going…
There are some powershell script available that can do it all for you. For me, this is the shortcut you probably seek. Check it out, I suggest.
Good luck!
