Should Microsoft kill SharePoint?
The link refers to an interesting article on Memeburn that appeared on the internet and is based on Gartner’s analyst Jeffrey Mann’s opinion. The header attracts, but the message is different.
Should SharePoint stay or should it go? What is your opinion?

And Education (at least in US) isn’t in favor of hosting data elsewhere either, Stephen!
For me it’s a bit of troll bait to be honest, a bit of scare mongering if you will.
I don’t think SharePoint will be killed off anytime soon, although I think we are in a transition period and within the next two years we will see a different “SharePoint” emerge.
Microsoft wants to compete with leaner cloud players, player that focus on the main areas of intranets and make them great:
Wiki’s
Blogs
The cloud is still a bit of a grey area for a lot of companies, especially law and financial firms who are just not keen on having there data hosted elsewhere.

absolutely correct…we have a few customers who rely heavily on Gartner direction. I spend a great deal of time giving them the correct info!
