I have a document library containing 4 folders. Each folder have its own permissions. So each user can view his own folder.
When a user share his document to another user (receiver), the receiver is still not abel to see the parent folder where this document is located.
Is there any way to show all folder where a user have shared documents inside?
P.S: The folder containing the shared document already is assigned with limited permission, but it seems by default in SharePoint online it is not showing to the user
It is my understanding that sharing a file will only share that file. It does not give the same permissions to the receiver for the folder associated with it. If you want the receiver to view the folder in which the file resides, you would have to either share the folder itself or add permissions to the folder for the receiver.
Here’s an article that may help:
To me, this says that a user can access a folder to get to a shared file, but does NOT say that they can actually see that folder.
