Tested now on two different Windows 10 instances and two SharePoint farms and it seems that opening a Word document using IE 11 from SharePoint 2010 takes 30 seconds plus.
This looks like a problem some have experienced before in IE which would be solved by changing the IE Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings and disabling ‘Automatic detect settings’ but this doesn’t appear to resolved the issue any longer on Windows 10.
If you open the document from within Word – it’s opens instantly, same if you open it from a WebDAV/Explorer view – it’s just IE for some reason.
Has anyone else got the same experience?
FYI: IE is running in compatibility mode, trusts are set correctly etc.
