Hey, can anybody explain why Microsoft has omitted design view in SPD 2013. It’s causing a lot of problem while customizing DVWP. Any alternatives for it?

The loss of design view in SharePoint Designer 2013 has been much lamented and discussed in the community. Instead of rehashing the discussion, I’ll just share the 2 threads that I found most useful on the subject.
