Hi all,
Have a question for the technical folks here. Ā What tools do you recommend for helping a SharePoint Administrator manage the SQL server (we have no SQL DBA, so I get to handle SQL as well). Ā I’ve looked at Idera tools, but would like to know what other people use for analyzing, monitoring, alerting of possible issues and what recommendations you may have.
We’re currently running SQL Server 2005, but will be going to SQL 2012 with our SP 2013 implementation.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Idera’s SQL diagnostic managerĀ is one of the better tools I’e worked with and it covers alot when visability and reporting is essential. But by no means is this enough to hedge against failures and outages where core SQL DBA knowledge is essential.
Most people will tell you a SharePoint Adminās best tool for supporting SQL is a SQL DBA. However, if you can’t get a DBA on staff, start training yourself to be one. So if your already plaiining on heading in that direction, awsome.
