Hypothetical question:
If one were to start building site collections and subsites in order to demonstrate awesome SP2013 features to early adopter business users, will this break once the designers and branding people step in?
I have kept away from one site collection marked for branding, to posses a unique look and feel. I want to make sure that nothing content-wise or apps-wise will break if we have to apply branding to some other site collections where we are exploring.
Thanks,
T
Sure, some of the out-of-the-box feature might be broken once custom design is implemented.
I have in mind several cases related to publishing page editing experience. This feature wasn’t tested properly within custom design so it was quite “broken”. Other things were relate to “missed’ features within libraries. For example, within custom master page a left navigation menu was removed so people didn’t have “managed metadata refiner” within libraries.
As you may see, it surely depends on the “level” of customization related to unique branding/design. It would be nice to put design + SharePoint people together to avoid misconceptions, validate and make sure desifn fits SharePoint in the right way.
