Question on Excel Services – I’m using a third party ODBC driver – works great in Excel. Installed and configured the driver/ODBC on all web front ends (and the Office Web Apps servers too – just in case). The workbook is in a trusted location. The credentials are stored in the ODBC connection.
If I use ODBC in Excel nothing is logged (verbose logging enabled).
If I use OLE then it throws this: Failed to create an external connection or execute a query. Provider message: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
I have a feeling this may have to do with the trusted providers but everything I try fails.
Here is the post I wrote, wish I had time to put in more details but if anyone needs more info, reply to this: http://www.mgtechgroup.com/2013/10/using-rssbus-odbc-drivers-with-excel-services-in-sharepoint-2013/

I solved this and will write a blog post about the process. The blog post will cover the basics of steps needed to use a custom ODBC driver with Excel services in SharePoint. I will not cover development of the driver itself. Hope to have it up in the next week or two. Reply if you need the answer sooner.
