Hi all,

We have a group using just the SharePoint functionality of their Office 365 E2 plan – Exchange mailboxes live on-premise.  Their o365 is currently synching with their old active directory (which we are gradually migrating them away from).  For now we set up a mail-enabled contact for each account that is set as a forward on their o365 mailbox, so that any email triggered by sharepoint will get autoforwarded to their onprem mailbox.

The next step will be to break the synch with the old active directory.  I assume when we do this, that the usernames will remain the same.  What about the passwords?  Will they revert to some old online password?

Also, after we do this, is there some way to do away with the overly-complex mail forwarding and just have sharepoint online send directly to their onprem email address?

Thanks!
