I am in the process of creating a community site with discussions, likes, and reputations. The client would like multiple languages used. My first thought is to use variations but am not sure whether all the tags, likes, and reputation points get synchronized.
Does anyone here have experience with this? Should I use a different approach possibly?

Variations can be complex and a challenge to manage. I have not tried doing it with Community sites. If the client would allow it, you can propose the use of widget such as the one provided by Bing.
