SharePoint 2016 has many benefits; however which are the key limitations which you should evaluate if you are planning to adopt it into your organization?
Here is a list of limitations with regards to SharePoint 2016. This list may not be complete.
1: No SharePoint Foundation Edition.
2: SharePoint Server 2016 doesn’t support the standalone install option, so it is no longer available in the setup program.
3: Earlier versions of SharePoint used ForeFront Identity Manager client (FIM) to synchronize between Active Directory and SharePoint. SharePoint Server 2016 no longer uses FIM as the synchronization client.
4: Excel Services and its associated business intelligence capabilities are no longer hosted on SharePoint Server.
5: SharePoint Server 2016 requires updated versions that will ship later this year. The SQL Server 2014 Power Pivot and Power View add-ins for SharePoint Server 2016 cannot be deployed or used in SharePoint Server 2016.
6: The Tags and Notes feature is deprecated in SharePoint Server 2016.
