Simple Question, Just curious to what people are for backups/restores these days.
DPM, Netbackup, Scripts, OOTB stuff, what’s you preference and why?
Thanks in advance

Hello guys,Â
Regarding backups and its strategies, do you do a backup validation/restore for every backup or something like that? How often? What might be an option for the backup validation and making sure backup was done properly and could be restored?
With OOTB PowerShell i.e. Backup-SPFarm etc. what is NOT actually backed up? I understand GAC, Web.config 14 / 15 hive wouldn’t be. Anything else? News feeds aren’t, what else would I be missing with OOTB commands?
Currently using DPM. Have used DocAve and snap manager for sharepoint as well as Farm backups.
Quite like snap manager for sharepoint / Doc ave
Our storage is NetApp, so we went with their SnapManager for SharePoint – which is basically AvePoint under the hood anyway.
DPM is one of the better product’s I’ve seen in recent history. it just hasn’t proven to scale very well when you need to centralize management across multiple environments.
