I was wondering what solutions / apps people have used for SharePoint on the mobile ? The world is going crazy with “Bring Your Own Device”, so I imagine this has been a particular pain point…
Notices a couple of mobile apps out there, used them ? Any recommendations ?
From my experience most of the apps cover lists and documents quite nicely not so much on the publishing side of things though, for that look to responsive design if the sites are exposed externally.
On the last Intranet I built I made it responsive and used some jquery to provide facebook style slide out menus which worked really well. Â We also Used NewsGator for social and they have a jquary mobile version of their social site as well as apps on all the platforms.
Uploading files from Android is fine from the mobile sites but as iOS doesn’t expose a file system it’s a little tougher without a dedicated app.
Also, how much of SharePoint do these apps cover ? Is it components like lists, documents, tasks… Anything on MySites and what happens with customized wiki and publishing pages ?Â
I have heard of SharePoint2Go but not used it. Is it good ?
