Can you explain to me what is a “zone” is in SharePoint and also what’s the difference between each of them. Also, how do I choose the most appropriate zone?

Are you talking about IIS Zones, where each “zone” is essentially an IIS website, but each website points to a single application pool?

So I can choose any thing right? Internet,extranet,intranet etc to extend mine …it’s just for extending ur Web applications or any rules defined while selecting zone

Yes, and a lot of the time, you won’t need the extension. If you want multiple URLS, you can use Alternate Access Maps. If you want multiple forms of authentication, you can do that as well (2013 and up).
