What experience do you have with SharePoint migration tools ? Which ones the best, easiest to use, best value for money ?
Reason for asking is I am considering doing a special newsletter which compares and contrasts them, but don’t have the experience with all of them… So if you have used one, let me know your thoughts and share as much as possible…
UPDATE! Since asking this there are now two articles on here that really help. Here is a fantastic SharePoint Migration Tool Comparison report put together by Alex Dove and this guide helps you select a good SharePoint Migration Tool.
We’ve also created a new category on our directory that lists virtually all of them. Best Office 365 Migration Tools.
Thanks in advance, Mark
This is a really helpfull discussion. I am currently preparing for a migration from MOSS2007 directly to SharePoint 2013. and have decided to go with content migration so if anybody had that kind of scenario(2007 -> 2013) I would appreciate it if they would share their experiances.
Also my enviromment contains a huge amount of documents so if you can suggest a best tool for migrating a large number of files that would be great
My self using the Share-Gate desktop tool for the past 2 years for data/content migration activity. Below is the platform where the tool support end-users migration. 1. SharePoint Online to SharePoint Online. 2. On-Prem to Share-Point online or One-Drive. 3. G-Drive to One-Drive or SharePoint Online. 4. Box.com to One-Drive or SharePoint Online. Using this Share-Gate desktop tool we can migrate the content/data for the entire structure level or even at the granular level which is a very good feature. And even it is a GUI method where we can select the folders and data which need to be migrated to the destination. Additional information. 1. Installation of the tool is simple, just need to enter the Authentication key and its user-based login. 2. Also used for Pre-check the issues with sharepoint 2013 migration to sharepoint online. 3. A source can be analyzed, what can be migrated and what are the limitations. 4. Can pull the reports for the entire SharePoint site and other reports like the permission matrix. 5. Even we can manage the SharePoint site by adding, deleting the users and group, etc. 6. Permission is carried from the tool is self will moving the data transfer. Or even we can map the users from source to destination to this there is a simple script that generates the.SGUM file and imported to the migration job before migration. 7. We can run any number of jobs. 8. We can select the source and the destination folders which they need to migrate. 9. The data transfer rate depends on the traffic and the number or services account used for migration. 10. Permission, version history can be managed accordingly. 11. Pre-Check can be done before live migration. 12. Unlimited data transfer is done, the licenses are based on the number of logins. 13. Easy to handle and a very helpful technical support team.”
I strongly recommended to all, Use Saketa SharePoint migration tool (very easy steps to migrate any version to any version of SharePoint, helps you migrate data from all online SharePoint versions, Office 365 migration software and cloud.) include feature comparison SharePoint migration tool list Â
In the recent day’s I could see the tool called avamigratron as a top result for my most of the searches related to migration! I really got surprised in it. Because very long time we a have been searching for this kind of tool and we can say it’s a complete suite…
Actually, we tried this tool for ibm connections to office 365 migration and its petty quick!!
The most importantly avamigratron is the only tool for ibm conn to office 365 migration:) Hope this one helpful for others too…
Here is the suite:http://avamigratron.com/Product
I personally like products by AvePoint (DocAve). Although I tried pretty much all of the migration tools (well this might be an overestimation, but a lot) since I work for custom software development company, which specializes in SharePoint and Exchange migration to Office 365. The ShareGate is not a bad choice also, most popular one I would presume.
