What experience do you have with SharePoint migration tools ? Which ones the best, easiest to use, best value for money ?
Reason for asking is I am considering doing a special newsletter which compares and contrasts them, but don’t have the experience with all of them… So if you have used one, let me know your thoughts and share as much as possible…
UPDATE! Since asking this there are now two articles on here that really help. Here is a fantastic SharePoint Migration Tool Comparison report put together by Alex Dove and this guide helps you select a good SharePoint Migration Tool.
We’ve also created a new category on our directory that lists virtually all of them. Best Office 365 Migration Tools.
Thanks in advance, Mark
thanks Colleen. i will take a look. really interested to see what real world experiences are as well.
Nothing But Sharepoint held what they called a Head to Head: SharePoint Migration Tool Cage Match to compare the various migration tools that might be useful.
These demos are mostly marketing pitches by each of the companies, but they do demo the product so you can take a look at the features.Â
I’m interested in real-world experience with the tools so I’ll be watching this thread.
So I think what I will do next week is create a survey and send it to the Linked Group. If people have experience of a vendors tool they can answer the questions and we can then write the results up in report. The groups got 25,000 in it, so it should get at least 750 responses. (did when I ran one last year)..
So — can you let me have ideas of some questions to include ?
Would also be nice (if possible) to get a 5 minute recording for each one. Not sure if the vendors would be up for that though …
I am going to try and grab a demo of Metalogix at the conference while i am here.
I am currently looking into AvePoint and Axcelar’s toolset as an administration platform as well as the possibility of their tools helping me to perform migration to SharePoint 2013. These two names have always stood out as leaders their tools seem very impressive so far and have always come highly recommended to me.Â
For our last migration (2007 > 2010) we took a more phased manual approach and used a tool called ShareGate which we still use now to move large amounts of documents + items around without losing any metadata, a cheap and valuable tool in my opinion.Â
Regards,Â
Colin.
