What experience do you have with SharePoint migration tools ? Which ones the best, easiest to use, best value for money ?
Reason for asking is I am considering doing a special newsletter which compares and contrasts them, but don’t have the experience with all of them… So if you have used one, let me know your thoughts and share as much as possible…
UPDATE! Since asking this there are now two articles on here that really help. Here is a fantastic SharePoint Migration Tool Comparison report put together by Alex Dove and this guide helps you select a good SharePoint Migration Tool.
We’ve also created a new category on our directory that lists virtually all of them. Best Office 365 Migration Tools.
Thanks in advance, Mark
Wouldn’t it be cool if they all gave us a license so we can compare 🙂
I’ve used Sharegate and LOVE IT! Â I wrote a product review on my blog last year: Â http://www.sharepointwendy.com/2012/07/migrating-listslibraries-from.html. Â They have made many improvements and additions of functionality since I reviewed it.
What do you think are a good set of features to benchmark each one?
P’s. Thanks for sharing..
Mark, I have been involved in dozens of migrations which exposed me to several of the leading migration tools:
Metalogix – ran into a product bug when using it a few years ago, a second project went a bit better but not my first choice.
Metavis -fewer features than some but for a doc warehouse farm it worked fairly well.
DocAve -a gpod choice of features (many you wont need/use)
Quest (haven’t used it since Dell bought them) was a good choice for quick migrations.
Of those I would say DocAve had the most appeal to non-engineering teams.Â
The functionality these products offer can be done through a well planned and executed in house migration solution which is what I champion in most scenarios.
