SharePoint in the UK is very strong, most companies are moving to it or already have it. The job market is also vibrant because of this. I was wondering if you could spare a sentence or two to say where you are (city, country) and let us know your thoughts to some (or all) of these questions :
- What the market is like ?
- What the salaries / rates are like ?
- Is your companies install / maintenance out-sourced ?
- Are there enough people to fill the SP jobs ?
- Are you using Office 365 ?
- How do you see the future ?

In Czech Republic where I live, the SharePoint market is more located in midsize companies and Govermants then other DMS solutions. The new impuls for small bussiness I see the SharePoint online as solution with less cost in maitenance and IT infrastructure.  Our company using self-installed / maitenaned SharePoint 2010 but we planning to use out source for installation of new SP2013. I use the office365 small bussines as Family portal with email and OWA for my family . I think the future will be very good if the microsoft will keep these temp of delivering new version and features from enterprise version to lower.
I am located in Dubai, here the market is very small for IT as overall. But, most of Govt. departments are using SharePoint and some organization as well. But we talk about the SP market in terms of job, its very very small but highly skilled SP resources are not available in market.Â
In New Zealand especially North Island, the SharePoint market is good. In windy wellington, there is quite a bit of craze for SharePoint, if I can say. Many SME’s (Small and medium enterprises), state sector adopt SharePoint so the market is good but the user base or implementation are not necessarily big. The job market is really vibrant and is always on the lookout of skilled SharePoint professionals. There are many awesome people and projects focused on SharePoint which is really good. Since, it is easier few SME’s go with O365 and I see the future of SharePoint in here is very exciting.
I hear of lots of companies in the US using SP as well. Â I also hear lots of complaints about it – tough on maintenance, users are confused and baffled by the interface. Â We are self-installed, maintained. Â We are not using 365 – looked at it – just too many gaps for what we are already doing. Â Going forward, I hope it becomes a less complex, better supported product – I mean, last I checked, there is no out-of-the-box feature to actually backup and restore a farm – or to get a listing of user permissions farm-wide – unbelievable.
