Are you an organization that brands your corporate intranet ? If so, how far do you go :
- Customer logo and theme ?
- Full on new master pages, new CSS – you can barely tell it’s SharePoint ?
Really interested to know peoples thoughts. I can see the benefit for branding external facing, but internal is it worth the cost and effort (and potential upgrade issues) ?
I guess so yeah, but it’s a trade-off benefit / cost …
I see SharePoint as I see “Windows” nowadays, no one really branded that even though you could change loads about it. I wonder if it’s really worth the bother and how far do you take it ? Application pages to ? Most places I have worked at / seen have gone the whole hog, custom master pages, and it ends up costing quite a bit, especially when you want 3rd party products added on (which also need to be styled up). Or JQuery UI…
I am not saying it’s right or wrong, just that how many times do companies do it because it’s the thing to do on web sites. If SharePoint was a desktop app (for example) we wouldn’t be changing any colours.Â
Agree with Jonas, it really depends on the type of company it is.  My last SharePoint built has a complete overhaul of the UI, master page, css etc as the company was all about image and identity.
Personally I have also been of the thought that you should always brand in some way to separate your install from SharePoint the platform to whatever you have created instead Â
Well, in my point of view it depends upon the size of the corporation, if it is a large organization the same aspects come into play as for an external site. Plus the cost / visitor will decrease.
