Go on let’s have em, what laptops are you all running and do you recommend for SP 2013 development ? The MBP a contender (surely not)!… Is anyone surviving on 16gb ?
UPDATE! Can you also add your laptop and configuration to this list : (User “Add to List”). http://list.ly/list/73V-sharepoint-2013-laptops. If someone has the same one, just vote it up.
Have to agree with Vlad — not worth the hassle to have your base OS be a server, Windows 8 will be much smoother. For SQL optimisation, check out the whitepaper here => http://absolute-sharepoint.com/2013/04/free-whitepaper-maximizing-sql-2012-performance-for-sharepoint-2013-whitepaper.html It’s written by …. Vlad. See why I had to agree with him? But I’ll add a thought — vm’s also run really well with their drives on a 2012 server with storage spaces (configure with ntfs & dedupe & not with parity), so a gigabit-connected microserver might give you another option — esata (or even usb3) connected drives is another avenue you might consider.

Wow … what a lot of responses!
