Go on let’s have em, what laptops are you all running and do you recommend for SP 2013 development ? The MBP a contender (surely not)!… Is anyone surviving on 16gb ?
UPDATE! Can you also add your laptop and configuration to this list : (User “Add to List”). http://list.ly/list/73V-sharepoint-2013-laptops. If someone has the same one, just vote it up.
I created my sandbox environment on single machine with 32GB RAM as I wanted to play around with all available services but we should have dev/test/stg as multi server environments with at least 2 web fronts load balanced, App server, SQL Server which can run on 12 GB each as we are not running everything on same machine but we still need 64-bit, 4 cores(if less than 1000 users) or 64-bit, 8 cores (if more than 1000 users and less than 10000) and 80 GB for system drive on each Web server, application server in a three-tier farm.
That’s nice. So what’s your own experience with running lab/dev/test environments, then?
If you are trying to build Single server that uses SQL Server and would like all services to run on it, MS recommends atleast 24 GB, 64-bit, 4 cores & 80 GB for system drive.
You can survive with 16GB if you are running the minimum recommended services for development environments. For information, see Minimum recommended services for development environments.
ugly, heavy, but you can’t put 64Gb in a Macbook Air!
But at £2700 for the base machine, then you have to find 16gb sodimms, I think they’re made of unicorn horn … and since it takes 4 disks, you’ll also “need” to fork out for 4 x 1tb ssd’s …
Well spotted Frédéric — my guess these are for trust-fund gamers.
Declare this one, Seb!
Crazy! But memory picker only goes up to 32GB… I am wondering what’s the price for 64.
It’s still crazy how fast it’s advancing

Wow … what a lot of responses!
