Go on let’s have em, what laptops are you all running and do you recommend for SP 2013 development ? The MBP a contender (surely not)!… Is anyone surviving on 16gb ?
UPDATE! Can you also add your laptop and configuration to this list : (User “Add to List”). http://list.ly/list/73V-sharepoint-2013-laptops. If someone has the same one, just vote it up.
Thanks for the info Mark J and Mark W. I really appreciate this topic, it will lessen my time to choose for a better machine for my upcoming projects in SharePoint 2010 and 2013. Anymore advice before I’ll buy my machine next week? This is my first time to buy my personal laptop for my freelance job as a SharePoint consultant and will be investing a lot for this machine.
m6500 with i7 and 32gb ram
sp2013 is fine until I want to do some search testing!
HP EliteBook 8570w
– SSD Intel 520 : 256 GB
– RAM 16 GB
It is all a matter of taste of course but I would seriously get a look at the screens on the Dells before you buy one. Dell are in the habit of applying a nasty anti glare coating which makes the screen quite “speckly”
Colleague of mine bought one and couldn’t tell but it drove me nuts, I had to send back a Dell external monitor due to same reason. The Lenovos don’t seem to have the same issue and the scren on my W530 is comparable to the one on my old Macbook pro.
All down to the individual though…
I own the W520 with 2 SSDS (3 if you count the e-sata ssd for OWA) with 32gb RAM. IMHO for a mobile workstation, this is perfect. I run 2010 and 2013 in parallel – very performant.

Wow … what a lot of responses!
