Go on let’s have em, what laptops are you all running and do you recommend for SP 2013 development ? The MBP a contender (surely not)!… Is anyone surviving on 16gb ?
UPDATE! Can you also add your laptop and configuration to this list : (User “Add to List”). http://list.ly/list/73V-sharepoint-2013-laptops. If someone has the same one, just vote it up.
I will take a look at hMailServer as well . I have used smtp4dev which allows you to inspect the mail messages in a gui… I do want to set up exchange at some point to test overlays etc.
Daniel what do you use as a test Mail Server ?
I use hMailServer (http://www.hmailserver.com/) which is a freebie and very useful!
A low number of snapshots and yes you probably won’t notice it. Also merging/deleting old snapshots possibly helps.
Mark,
Coincidently, need to test out mail in my test domain so I will take a look at MailEnable and compare against setting up Exchange in its own VM.
Mark J’s recommendation of only going with one snapshot is probably good though I still remain to be convinced!
Interesting – that you both think it slows it down. I saw that in VMWare but not in Hyper V. All my machines have at least 1 snapshot and there’s never been a perf issue. However, I generally don’t have more than 2.
Snapshotting is essential for testing and so convenient!

Wow … what a lot of responses!
