Go on let’s have em, what laptops are you all running and do you recommend for SP 2013 development ? The MBP a contender (surely not)!… Is anyone surviving on 16gb ?
UPDATE! Can you also add your laptop and configuration to this list : (User “Add to List”). http://list.ly/list/73V-sharepoint-2013-laptops. If someone has the same one, just vote it up.
I have an old Lenevo W510 with 16GB RAM and it really doesn’t cut the mustard so slow.
It has 2x50Gb Samsung Pro SSDs so the I/O is quick but the memory/cpu is not up to scratch.
I got so annoyed with it a couple of weeks ago that I have gone down the W530 with 32Gb RAM, just waiting for delivery.
I’m using a MacBook Pro late 2011 with 16 GB Ram and i7 2.5 GHz.
Currently i have Windows 7 native and MacOS X installed. For SharePoint 2013 I survive really well with 16GB and a virutal machine under MacOS X. We also have a development server where i can use Remote Desktop to connect.
I have a Lenovo W520 and a W530, both with 32GB, and each two 240GB SSDs 🙂
Why two? One is my everyday work laptop with Windows 8 and running my VMs in VMWare. The other is my lab-laptop running Server 2012 with Hyper-V.
Those machines are the dogs nuts though ? You wont get a better lappy for building SP… As you know I am no MBP fan – can’t be doing with learning it.
Wow … what a lot of responses!
