Planning to build a desktop PC for SharePoint 2013 development but there’s no guarantee that I won’t going to play games on it too :-).
I have already done a lot of research and came up with this build,

However still confused as if i7’s Hyper threading will be any helpful for SharePoint 2013 (as much as i heard SP2013 is only memory and disk I/O hungry)
My budget is around 1000 British pounds so Laptops are too expensive (less future proof) to be considered for SP 2013 development and the way I work laptops are not quick enough (3,4 virtual machine running at same time with hundred of browser tabs -_- )
@Vlad that’s actually a really good suggestion, who know’s if SharePoint 2016 might require +32 gb ram.
I would also drop “performance” RAM and go with Corsair Value Select or similar. You can also drop back the performance of the RAM, say to 1333Mhz. Get one of the cheapest video cards possible. You need <1GB for what you’re doing here.
I’d also look at the non-K variants of Intel processors, in case you want to do virtualization and have access to VT-d.
I would go for the I7-3820, or something in LGA2011 so you can go up to 64GB of ram… a lot more futureproof 🙂
