Thought I’d create a discussion to have a bit of fun! Imagine you are one of the top dogs at Microsoft working on the SharePoint product team. Which products / services / companies would you be looking to buy and why ? This can be a product to replace something in SharePoint, or a product that would compliment it.
We will give away a free SharePoint E-Book to the winning answer!
I’d love to see Pingar as part of SharePoint, Natesan! Â I was asking earlier today if anyone had used it.
I would assume they would not be after Nintex or k2 because they are one of the biggest ISV’s know for a long time and they are biggest advocates for SharePoint but I would personally like them to buy Metalogix(Axceler) or Pingar which is really an awesome addition to the search suite for SharePoint.Â
Two things spring to mind
1. External object storage without the need to setup RBS.
2. A proper external publishing engine instead of the overcomplicated search based content publishing feature
Apparently, MS has their own awesome version of SPDockit which they use for RAP services.
Nintex! I used to develop workflows from scratch using SPD and or VS, but I was able to cut development time by more than half on some very complex workflows using Nintex. Also, the easy GUI allows us – after very minimal training – to give the end users the ability to create and manage their own workflows.
Another thing that comes to mind is a tool to manage user security. For example if a user changes roles within the company, it would be nice to quickly find all of the sites/list items the user has rights to, and be able to modify those rights.
