Hi all
Im trying to make a Knowledge Base but SharePoint is a monster to understand and work with. Basically this wiki should have the following
- Create same templates for new Topics/articles
- But at the same time, if needed able to edit the page template
- Able to rate a “content” eg a video on a page (not the page/article which I have seen)
- Send the article for approval before publishing
Do you think a Sharepoint Entreprise is more suitable than Wiki Library?
Hi, kalebmonsterbuster.
I’ve used a combination of these since there are certain limitations of Site Pages (Wiki) library to create consistent pages via layout templates.Â
Also, the biggest drawback of non-Enterprise Wikis are tagging capabilities and adding categories to pages effectively. SharePoint gives you a starting point but not necessarily an OOTB knowledge base solution.Â
Looking at your scenario, an Enterprise Wiki site template maybe more suited for your needs aside from the 3rd bullet item.Â
I agree with Fred on using the enterprise wiki for your scenario.
For the 3rd requirement, create a page library & have a column added that refers to the video URL. You can now customise the page template to embed the video in the page. You can use the OOTB rating feature too.Â
thanks!
Hi kalebmonsterbuster,
I am always comfortable with the Wiki Sites. That’s what we suggest our clients too 🙂 We have also added custom CSS’s for it to look more nicer!
Thanks Fred this is great stuff – i will speak to the Admin to create it – otherwise i will try to manage with a library…somehow
But once i create a Entreprise wiki – can o add an app to it? Example i saw some FAQ app which looks good. Also based on Chanakya reply below, can i add a page library to Entreprise wiki?
thanks!
