The term “Cloud” is just something invented by the marketing teams in the big tech companies. The “idea” has been around since the 90’s (eg. Application Service Providers, ISP’s). Why do think there’s the big push now? What conditions are dictating that now is the time to be using it? Are we looking at better software, technology or are we looking at just another trend again?
I think cloud is here to stay in technology terms. As technology goes in waves, I think we are swimming or planning to, in this wave of technology. Also, it appears to be high investment/priority for Microsoft, Google and Amazon if you look at technolgy blogs or sites and their quarterly results. This is confirmed by Microsoft’s strategy of “Mobile first, Cloud first”. Also, this might play a crucial role or pay way to next wave as well?
