This problem has been going on for a while. I’ll be so happy to update in hopes that it’s fixed. (Actually this is the Microsoft Policy–Get the user so frustrated with the OS that they fantasize a fix in the next release.)
Hyper-V does not usually come up on the first boot of the day. (I guess it is a late sleeper!). I can generally reboot and get Hyper-V to show my Virtual Machines.
Just wanting to hear if anyone is experiencing this phenomenon.

Sounds like it is machine-specific. I ran multiple Win 8 Pro machines w/ Hyper-V without issue, and I’ve converted one of those to 8.1 and again no issues.
